Hiya,
I'm Emma and mum to Chloe who's 5 years old. Chloe is the heart patient in our family. I'll very briefly outline our story for you so you know who we are - hope I don't bore you!
Chloe was born in Oct 99 with complete AVSD, which led to her having her first open heart surgery at 6 weeks of age which was followed by 2 more open heart surgeries at 18 months of age resulting in her mitral valve being replaced and Chloe being put on warfarin for life.
At first, we were given horror stories about warfarin and it was made out, by her doctors, to be the worst thing on earth! And although it is a pain in the bum at times, its not as bad as all that most of the time.
Chloe is a very happy, outgoing child and no-one ever guesses she has a heart problem (until they see her scars of course!) but obviously have concerns for her for the future as I feel warfarin may be more of an issue for her as she gets older - drinking, piercing etc and of course, pregnancy. Which is why I'm so pleased this site has been created and I'm looking forward to being part of it!
Love Emma
